Denman joined October Films in 1995 as a director. Over the next nine years he originated, directed and executive produced a wide range of films, from observational documentaries to science, history and current affairs programmes. In 2004 he became the company’s Managing Director, and continued to executive produce many of October’s award-winning programmes.
In 2014 following a period of significant growth the senior management team was expanded and Denman was appointed Executive Chairman. He continues to develop and produce October productions and together with the rest of the four-member October board sets and implements the company’s direction and strategy.
Adam joined October in 1990. As Managing Director he oversees the company’s business strategy, strategic alliances and rights management, in conjunction with Jane Manning.
His core focus is to maximise the commercial potential of October’s creative vision and core editorial talent. He remains an integral part of the company’s development and creative team under Matt Robins, developing and executive producing projects though to commissioning, in particular the major international co-productions for which October is renowned.
Recent and current productions include: Operation Stonehenge (BBC2, CBC, Smithsonian, France 5, ORF and ZDF), Walking The Nile (C4, GroupM & Animal Planet), World War II From Space (History), Rude’ish Tube (E4), Rude Tube (C4), The Man Who Killed Michael Jackson (C4, Zodiak, ABC and MSNBC) and Spying on Hitler’s Army (C4, PBS and Foxtel).

As Director, Production & Operations, Jane is integral to the company’s creative, strategic and commercial planning. She is responsible for the day to day running of the company, and has managerial oversight of all productions through to delivery.
Jane leads budget and contract settlement with broadcasters, and negotiates rights deals for October content. She pursues new funder relationships, and together with the Managing Director, develops investment and business opportunities across the entire range of the company’s work.
Jane is passionate about finding and working with great people and is central to the strategy for building October into an indy capable of flourishing in a challenging and changing landscape while retaining its founding principles of quality delivery.
Matt leads October's creative strategy, overseeing relationships with broadcasters, producers, partners and talent. Since joining in 2004 Matt has expanded October’s slate from a blue-chip documentary base to the full spectrum of factual content, creating and executive producing across diverse genres.
Matt was integral to shows that transformed perceptions of October, such as Rude Tube (Channel 4) and Obsession (Investigation Discovery). The critically acclaimed Hunt for Britain’s Sex Traffickers (Channel 4), World War Two from Space (History), and Kris: Dying to Live (BBC) reflect Matt's commitment to the highest standards of production and a vibrant stylistic range.
Most recently Matt has overseen October’s US growth, founding a base in New York to enable innovative and incendiary ideas to reach ever broader commercial landscapes.
Phil is Financial Controller and Company Secretary. He joined October Films in 2004, and has responsibility for all finance and accounting matters. Having graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, he then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG. His work in television commenced at Granada Television, and subsequently was Financial Controller in TV & video production, post production and international distribution companies, both in the independent sector and within Warner Music.

Chris is highly experienced in developing and producing television sizzles, pilots and premiere episodes that ensure the success of top-rating hit series for the US, UK and global markets. He combines expert editorial skills with strong leadership, dynamic creativity and professional drive.
Chris started his freelance career cutting music videos, commercials and film trailers. He fused these skills with gifted storytelling to shape outstanding factual programming for the BBC (Top Gear), Channel 4 (The Madness Of Boy George), National Geographic (Locked Up Abroad) and over 80 hours of programming for the Discovery Channel, including top-rated hits Jungle Gold, Shackleton: Death or Glory, Dangerous Persuasions, The Unexplained Files and Gold Rush.
Charlie is responsible for the strategic UK and USA casting at October Films; leading the in-house casting team through dynamic casting, robust storytelling and collaborating with the best emerging and established talent out there. Believing diversity is vital for innovation and creativity; he strives to ensure that our programs continue to represent all parts of British and American society.
Charlie has cast across all major genres; from survival to bridal, property to pets, food to substance abuse. UK and US shows such as Mygrations, Life on Marbs, Secret Eaters, Mail Order Husband, Don’t Tell The Bride, The Room, The Big Allotment Challenge, The Magaluf Weekender, Britain’s Best Dish, Trailblazers, At Home with Steph and Dom, Come Dine With Me, Build A New Life In The Country and countless others.
Over the last three and a half years Gareth has overseen October’s hit US Discovery Science show ‘Outrageous Acts of Science’ and created the DNI commission ‘Deadly Dilemmas’. He’s exec’d over 70 hours of content that has reached a global audience of over 140 million viewers.
Starting out in Entertainment Gareth worked his way up through Channel 4’s legendary ‘Big Breakfast’ on to the Fact Ent of Channel 4’s ‘Richard and Judy’ and BBC’s ‘The One Show’. Having produced and directed a diverse range of UK primetime shows Gareth fell back on his Physics teacher background to help launch the first ever BBC ‘Stargazing Live’. Determined to make science TV that’s fun to watch Gareth is developing new shows for October across all of the main global factual channels.
Mike joined us after spending six successful years at Firecracker Films, where he was Head of US Productions, running My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding for five seasons, Gypsy Sisters for four, and many other shows including Apocalypse Preppers, Preachers Wives, Clash of the Collectors and personal favourite Sinister Ministers, in which he played a priest or a cop in every episode.
Prior to this, he produced and directed for some of UK television’s most talked about factual series including Faking It, Perfect Match, Beyond Boundaries, Bear Grylls: Man v Wild, lots of Uncovered's, numerous From Hells and many, many shows ending with Wars.
For six years Dan has been the Series Producer of Rude Tube producing 80 hours for Channel 4 and E4. He developed the spin off - Rude(ish) Tube, a daytime version and oversaw the internationalisation of the series. To date there are only 27 internet videos he hasn’t seen.
Dan’s TV career began as a fixer for German tabloid TV shows filming in London going from the ridiculous..to the ridiculous, like the man who swam in his own fish tank and a topless hairdressers. His first ‘proper’ programme ‘Ouch’ about bizarre injuries gained recognition from the Daily Mail, who recommended that viewers ‘switch off’.
He’s been shot at whilst filming Danny Dyer’s football hooligan series and directed Vinnie Jones in a back alley in LA but his career highlight was persuading Sir Alex Ferguson to record a personal message for his brother’s wedding video.
Matt heads up October Films’ UK development team. He is responsible for driving October’s slate of UK ideas, pitching to broadcasters and securing access and talent.
In his time at October, Matt has secured commissions for series including Dangerous Borders: A Journey Across India and Pakistan and Caravanner of the Year, as well as stand-out singles such as Annie: Out of the Ashes, The Big Spring Clean and For Richer, For Poorer.
Matt joined October in July 2012, after a spell working in development in house at the BBC. Previously he worked for Waddell Media in Belfast, producing the first series of the innovative year-long Channel 4 series 4thought.tv, and in the development teams of various London-based indies.
Before landing at October Films, Mitchell Tanen wrote, produced, directed, and show-ran nearly 100 hours of programming for major and cable networks in the US.
His credits include critically and commercially successfully projects for NBC (Emmy award winning, The Voice), Discovery (Emmy nominated Alaska: The Last Frontier and Ice Road Truckers), A & E (Emmy Award winning, Intervention), Animal Planet (Ivory Wars), Red Bull (Air Devils), TLC (Sarah Palin’s Alaska), Esquire (The Candidate with the Academy Award winning producers Simon and Jonathan Chinn), as well as countless pilots and sizzles for History, National Geographic and others.
In 2006 Mitchell co-directed a feature length documentary called, Release: The Jack Ryan Story, that was bought by Fox to be turned into a feature length film.
In his current role at October Films Mitch oversees current productions and helps develop future projects.
After joining October Films as a researcher, Louis Mole has become a key figure in October’s New York office and an integral part of October’s recent expansion into the North American market. As Head of US Development, he is responsible for managing October’s US slate, producing sizzle reels, pitching original ideas for television series and documentaries, and maintaining strong working relationships with all of the major US networks.
Over the past couple of years, Louis has been a development producer on the History Channel’s Pirate Treasure Of The Knights Templar, Discovery Channel’s Trailblazers, National Geographic’s Mygrations and an eight-part Lifetime series.
Prior to October, Louis was trained at the prestigious ‘New York Film Academy’ documentary film school in Manhattan. Upon graduating, he was hired as a producer to work on the outreach campaign for the Sundance-winning, Oscar shortlisted documentary ‘The House I Live In.’
